A practical setup

For Facebook, decide which use is distracting, which use is intentional, and whether another app or browser route performs the same task. Write the trigger, action, exception, and review date in one sentence before configuring it.

Worked example

Select one destination, set a 10-minute daily limit, then test locking and release while every permission and exception is still visible. Save the outcome in a private note so the next review uses evidence rather than memory.

Marketplace, groups, events, messages and the feed are all one app to Apple's picker, and MoveFirst cannot see inside that selection to spare any of them — so the question is not which part of Facebook distracts you, but whether you can lose all of it until the day opens. Decide that before you select it. If Marketplace is how you buy and sell, or a group is how your team or your family coordinates, leave Facebook out and let the first fourteen days measure a cleaner target instead.

How to measure the experiment

For 21 days, record 3 checks covering shield reliability, necessary access, planned visits, and automatic openings. Compare like with like: use the same days and inputs when you review the result.

Before you switch it on

A blocking playbook is useful only when selection, recovery, and essential access have been tested.

• ✓Inventory work, care, banking, travel, and authentication needs.
• ✓Check app and browser routes that reach the same destination.
• ✓Choose a way in that fits the place and time: a camera-counted exercise, the step target, or a place you name.
• ✓Run one short shield-and-unshield test before relying on it.

When to adjust the rule

Fix the selection before raising the movement target; a broader lock is not automatically a better boundary. Add a quiet or step or saved-place option before deciding that the entire approach has failed.
